SeaFall, the third legacy game from legacy game designer Rob Daviau, is a 4X (4E? I mean none of the four keywords actually start with X, right?) game set in an Age of Sail in which players take on the role of a mainland empire that consults with a consortium of advisors to discover new islands, explore those islands, develop trade, send out raiding parties, take part in ship-to-ship combat, and more.

The game is for 3-5 players and should take around 14/15 plays to complete*.

While it can be played as a 2P and I could play it at home just with Lindsey and me, the game is designed and balanced for at least three players and has no mechanic to stop a runaway leader without having enough other players to ally against them*.

I'm considering picking it up at some point (or asking for it for Christmas), on the condition that I can find people to play it with. So, who would be up for giving it a go? I'm thinking that, to avoid monopolising game night, I would ask people to commit to playing just once a month, or maybe more if people were really enjoying it.

  1. Pete
  2. Lindsey?
  3. Mark
  4. Steve
  5. Probably nobody, game seems to be popular at 3-4

I would commit to play if there is a spot.

Best advice from listening to reviews / podcasts etc. would be to go with a regular group of 3. 4 at the absolute most.

I was envisioning going no more than four unless there was a huge rush to get involved. There appears to be no massive rush so might strike that fifth spot from the list.

Coolio. This will probably be a thing that happens in the new year, either because somebody was kind enough to gift it to me at Christmas or because everybody hates me so I returned all their gifts and bought this instead.

Somebody was kind enough to gift this to me for Christmas, so we're on.

I'll speak to people on Wednesday about when we can start :D
