Hi all,

Cant decide between the mega drive, mega cd, 32x combo or the sega saturn......

Mega drive or Saturn would be my choice from that list but even PS1 is retro now. Classic Tekken fun.

To be honest, if you're hankering for some retro Sega action it's probably a lot easier to buy the Sega Mega Drive: Ultimate Collection for the PS3 or X-Box 360. It covers pretty much all the great Sega Mega Drive games pretty well and can be picked up for £11.99 on Amazon for either console. The spoiler is the list of games it contains.

Spoiler! :
Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
Alien Storm
Altered Beast
Beyond Oasis
Bonanza Bros.
Columns
Comix Zone
Decap Attack starring Chuck D. Head
Dr. Robotnik's MBM
Dynamite Headdy
Ecco the Dolphin
Ecco II: The Tides of Time
E-SWAT
Fatal Labyrinth
Flicky
Gain Ground
Golden Axe I
Golden Axe II
Golden Axe III
Kid Chameleon
Phantasy Star II
Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom
Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium
Ristar
Shining in the Darkness
Shining Force
Shining Force 2
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic and Knuckles
Sonic Spinball
Sonic The Hedgehog
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Sonic The Hedgehog 3
Streets of Rage
Streets of Rage 2
Streets of Rage 3
Super Thunder Blade
Vectorman
Vectorman 2

You can also pick up Sonic CD now on the X-Box 360 & PS3 market place for either console for dirt cheap which is probably the only reason to pick up the Mega CD in the first place and Guardian Heros which is the best Saturn game ever (imho) is also available to.

If you're going to go for a "retro" console I'd agree with Lee and get a Playstation 1, there are a lot of great games on it and there's not really been a rerelease of a lot of them.

A modded 60hz Sega Saturn would be my choice as you can play anything on it without having to worry about cost of games. A large selection of japanese releases on SS don't need any knowledge of the language.

Anyway, the original Virtual On for SS was awesome, and the twinsticks have come down in price a lot over the last year...

If you do go with a Mega CD addon you can play copies as the MCD had no copy protection. (provided the games are the same region as your MCD)

I would say Snatcher, Final Fight CD, Shining Force CD and Keio Flying Squadron are very good reasons to own a MCD

You are, of course, joking. Snatcher was the worst thing ever to be committed to disk until Twilight came out on DVD.

Have to disagree, Zelda: Wand Of Gamelon, Link: Faces Of Evil & Zeldas' Adventure were all released on CD, these games have no redeeming features whatsoever. Snatcher at least introduced me to the idea of Neo Kobe Pizza which is delicious and it's also worth nothing that Snatcher is probably the most cohesive thing Kojima has ever written.

That 'definitive' list of Sega games is disgusting, no road rash, no desert strike, no NBA jam, no Mario Lemieux Ice Hockey, no Madden, what a crock!

They are still selling that on XBLA, Wii and PSN for £10, I think that is more than it originally cost.
