Now that we once again have a space that is suitable for role playing, Alastair has suggested that anybody out there who has a game ready to run, or maybe wants to gauge interest in a new game idea before they work too hard on it, posts a little summary of details of the game. The suggested format runs something like
  • Name - be this a fanciful name such as "Tales from Gaultria" or "The Game With No Name" or something ab it more prosaic like "Space opera" or "Y'know, like, D&D"
  • System. This might be of import to people who either only want to play systems they know, like to read up on systems before they play, or are looking for new systems to add to their Usborne Spotter's Guide to RPG Rules
  • Number of players - a guide to the number of players
  • Number of sessions/length of game
  • Style of game - is this high fantasy swords and sorcery on an epic scale, or is it a single session modern day introductory game. There will be no in between (kidding, there can be in between).
  • Characters - A guide to the type of characters expected or required, if characters will be made as part of the game, or if they will be provided.

If your game doesn't fit these categories then write whatever you need to. We potentially have space for two RPGs each week, depending on other attendance so you should certainly keep an eye on the forums to see what else is being planned.

  • The Beast Within
  • D20 Modern
  • Four players
  • 1-2 sessions
  • Casual/introductory modern/horror game in the small town of Pinebox, Texas
  • Pregen characters:
    • Dana Lawson, dedicated nurse, married to
    • smart white collar worker Thomas Lawson
    • Jason Howards, strong young student checking out East Texas U, being driven home by his brother
    • Johnathan Howards, a tough fighter pilot home on leave

N.b. this has been played through once with one set of players, but there's no reason why it couldn't be run again if 3-5 other people fancied giving it a go. It took a few sessions to get through last time so I would say plan for maybe 3-5 sessions on a club night to get it done

In the alternate weeks when I'm not playing in Daremonai's Game Without a Clever Name, if there are any spare players waiting around I've always got my Drop-in Dungeon ready to go.

  • The Dread Dungeon of Doom
  • six20 Fantasy RPG (a d20-based system, in development)
  • Up to five players
  • Drop-in one-night sessions
  • Old school death trap - wandering monsters, traps, shifting tunnels... the whole dungeon is trying to kill you!
  • Pre-generated generic starting characters are available (humans, elves, dwarves, halflings - warriors, casters, explorers, etc), or PM me for a copy of the character generation rules.
