I don't see any way for you to get your awesome early, but I think that by taking a level each of Strong, Fast and Tough you will end up kinda awesome.

E.g.
Level 3: Strong 3. +1 BAB, Improved Melee Smash
Level 4: Fast 1. +3 DEF, Evasion, 7 skill points and Tumble becomes a class skill, Defensive Martial Arts
Level 5: Tough 1. +1 DEF, Remain Conscious, 5 skill points and Concentration becomes a class skill, +1 to any Attribute

This leaves you able to deal a fair whack of damage, avoid damage, remain standing even once you reach negative hit points and unarmoured still have a DEF of 19 (16 FF) so with just a light undercover vest you become DEF 20 and still able to use Evasion.

Unfortunately, with the max ranks for CC skills restriction you couldn't even dip into Smart to try to get all the skill points you need to jump straight to 5 in each skill.

Of course, a certain DM might have other ideas since he makes all the rules. It does sound though like your awesome is going to be very with a list of pre-reqs that long!

Spoken to our Omnipotent Overlord and he's agreed to give me access to some "cool" until I reach my proper "cool".

Coming soon: SPACE HEROES! a d20 Fusion campaign

What is it?
The cops of CPI are in deep trouble - who can help them save the world? Meanwhile, deep in the dark depths of space, devious plots are brewing.

The Galactic Senate rules from the Core, enlightened and civilised... the gangster-ruled fringes of the galaxy are lawless and dangerous... mystic psychic warriors wonder the stars seeking to know themselves through austere combat... huge Star Patrol vessels with handsome captains boldly seek out new civilisations... exotic aliens, humans and robots fight horrible monsters... spacetruckers jump through hyperspace with precious cargoes of Djambon-Gohs bound for the Spindward Rim... in short - it's a big space opera, drawing on all those familiar tropes.

Who are the heroes?
The group is to be made up of players from the CPI phase of the d20 Fusion game. You'll need a totally new character, with half the XP of your CPI character.

You will play humans or near-humans, or maybe aliens, or even robots. Your characters will be either from the great Glactic Core (technologically advanced and civilised) or from the frontier colonies (rudimentary and lawless).
The party - when it is assembled - will have some access to a space craft, and will be for some reason on the move.

Please PM me your ideas for a character - be as vague and fanciful as you like, and we'll negotiate from there. Bear in mind of course, that the more powerful your character seems, the more likely it will be that we have to tone it down, or restrict it.

When is this happening?
A short, short while away, in a Games Vault room near you...

It will of course depend on how long the CPI phase continues. We seem to be at a point where the team is becoming aware of the larger plot, so I thought it best to start preparing. I think it may be that we start on the SPACE HEROES! phase by the end of the year, if not sooner.

Waiting list and rotation of players
Once again, I have more people wanting to pay than I have space. I propose that we use the same plans as for the D&D game: when your character dies, you go to the bottom of the waiting list, and the next person joins.

Current waiting lists is:
  • Jack

I'll add this post to the OP to make it easier to find.

As I mentioned in the Arrange Games thread, although Nobby is bowing out of the Fusion game, I'm not going to directly replace him - our group has become a little too large for my liking.
Without Nobby, we've still got 6 players. I'd like to stick with those numbers. When another space comes up, the next person gets to join in. That'll be you, Jack.

Now that Nick has dropped out, I've decided to stick at 5 players. It's far more managable.

Jack and Julia are waiting for places.
I guess as Jack came along first, he ought to have the next space... but Julia isn't in any RPGs... sort it out between yourselves, if you would.

Ed, welcome back, I'm sorry it took so long to bring you back to us.

Now, I imagine there will be some sort of disorientation after what you've been through, that's only understandable.

I don't know how much you remember of your last minutes before you... well... just before. I'll be honest, it wasn't pretty. From the... remains it looked like your body suffered a very painful death and I can't even begin to imagine the suffering you went though... but I'm getting off the point.

Your body was beyond recovery I'm afraid. Your brain barely survived but we've been keeping it stable for some time now while we prepare a new body for you. This one isn't as... organic as you might be used to...

Anyway, it seems to be working OK, but do try not to dent it as I'm afraid Beasty is no longer with us either.

I know that all of this must be very difficult for you, but I need you to tell everybody what it was you told me when we last... spoke. I think that events have moved on a long way since the incident in the barn and any information that you can bring to the table would be very useful...

Out of Character:
Can we get the text of the conversation that Ed overheard that you said could be posted please Mr. DM?

Having extrapolated the XP table I'm quite excited to see how much XP we get for these characters and in turn how much we start with for our new ones! Squee!

I know that circumstances dictate that this be on hold for quite a while longer, and I'm not blaming anybody, but I miss this game!

<sigh>

In other news, I'm still undecided what sort of character I want to play. I have several ideas though...

I think it's safe to say - though a bit sad - that I'm not likely get back to running this game regularly at the Vault this year.

Although, I may be able to get a couple of special Bank Holiday sessions in, if people are interested. That'd be longer games, breaking for dinner and going on fairly late.
I must stress - I have no current plans to do this, I'm just mentioning it might be a good idea...
PM me if you're interested.

I got so sad that I went out and found a puppy, just so I could kill it. Didn't make me feel any better though.

<bigger sigh>

I hate to think how many character concepts I'll get through before the game does manage to come back!
