Down the pub the other evening, I mentioned an article I'd read which talked about how the d20 system (which is the core of the 3rd Edition D&D rules, among other 21st century RPGs) is actually more balanced and realistic than some people think. Turned out, it's not as famous as I thought.

Here it is. There are lots of words in it, but I think the author has hit all the nails on the head. It's well worth reading if you're playing in, and even more worthwhile if you're running, anything using the d20 system.

thanks that was a really interesting read hopefully that will give me the insight i need to writing half decent adventures

good article,

my thoughts have always been that the d20 system really fits the d&d world.

In my view that is the best compliment i can pay i believe.
