Prompted my Michael's response I realise this probably needs an update.
Firstly - the 'big battle' in June/July is 'full'. In that we reached 3v3 a way back, and with the chance that this is now going to end up in a semi-private venue; i.e. someone's work/house rather than the pub, then we decided we need to limit it at that. That said the one off big game was only ever a gimmick to trick our simple little gamer minds into getting an army finished to deadline. Once those armies are built people are going to want to use them, so it's by no means a closed shop. We have nothing formal planned beyond the summer but post summer hols I expect some manner of linked games/campaign, general shenanigans will ensue.
I notice Jack has ventured down the path of AWI for black powder, and facebook posts suggests he's knocked out a 28mm regiment in very respectable time, so larger unit 28mm needn't be intimidating.
At the moment the player pool is Warwick slanted, but if anyone wants some advice on building up a small force and developing some more Daventry based nappies I'm happy to help, and have experienced some of the pitfalls over the last however mnay months!

We are however closing in on getting some stuff almost (i.e. 2 months) ready for photos...

Also received the Blucher rules today which contain a campaign system which might transfer - although might fit the 6mm stuff better (which is on the Autumn 'to do' list). Lots of option and potential though...

Good stuff Jack. My 28s are still undergoing the long and tortuous process of painting, but when there's enough I'll bring them to the club for a mini-demo. The 6mm stuff is also gorgeous from Baccus, and although it was ok with black powder our basing didn't really suit squares etc. but with Blucher being a grand tactical scale where one base is essentially one brigade I think we now have a perfect ruleset to use them for which always helps in getting them painted!
