Ooh I like that!

Do you think it lacks backbone with no vet troops?

Because i have modified scenario 3 Jack and Adam plan to refight it, this was due to it being a rather one sided affair with a concern that the points levels weren't very even including some elements of the scenario being over looked.

Seen as it has come up during our daily convo and I enjoyed it so much last night posting a suggested army list I have created a German one for Scenario 3 here it is. Yanks to follow.

As you may have noticed my list differs greatly from Rayner's in the core troop selections. He is quite happy to rely on his first lieutenants better leadership qualities to help keep his inexperienced Luftwaffe troops in check with tests.

I however would like my troops to be a tough thorn to remove. By good placement, Adam could need up to 6's followed by 5's or 4's to actually hurt my stubborn troops, especially if the terrain and scenery is kind.

The 3 x MMG teams is a must due to the 'Hitler's Buzzsaw' rule which could decimate the US forces (once again dependant on good deployment and cover plus firing lanes). With an LMG team in each squad and assault rifles dotted around the firepower of this force is pretty devastating even at a paltry 400pts.

Another reason for the more experienced troops yet fewer numbers is I like the idea of a desperate, stubborn defence with limited bodies to soak up the pressure. Luftwaffe are flyboys not heroic last stand, up close and personal trench fighters!

And yes, enemy tanks could be an issue but the trick is to just stay alive...............isn't it?

Interesting out look Gazza,
my tactic was to use the inexperienced troops to soak up the inevitable hand to hand attack, use them to soak up the charge then counter the charge with the unit of Vets. 2 units could be destroyed in 2 turns in hand to hand, 5 would take 5 obviously thats based on one squad attacking. I was fully holding out in the tower with those inexperienced troops hitting the deck using the down rule to add survivability.
I agree with the mmg's I toyed with not taking one .....but it seemed madness.

S3 Here's how I'd roll up to Rayer.

2nd LT Reg +2 70

2x 1 NCO 5 Vets smg + bar all around 103

1x Medic +2 43

1x Reg MG team 50

2x Deuce w'mmg mounted 66

501 total but I could get that under easy.

I need that building taking so i'm rolling up all MMG's blazing loaded with tough S.O.Bs right upto the front door where I either break through with my tough bastard vets or get all Cassidy and Sundance.

Genius or bloodbath on the door step.

Its worth noting here that I have done my list with the extra 100 points from the previous win that Adam achieved and chris has not.

No sure I'd take a medic in an advancing mission I expected lots of hand to hand.
