Oh god, I hope this doesn't start the argument of "casino dice are unfair because you are meant to bounce them off a table"

Oh dear :)

Just found this while meandering around the forum away from the bb area.

Casino's insist that you bounce the dice off the table as the faces are larger and the corners arent trimmed in anyway due to the manufacturing process.

I have played games involving dice (as im sure most of you have) in clubs, competitive arenas and gambling establishments and probably been soured to the innocence of just picking up some dice and rolling them.

Dice can be poorly manufactured or have emblems on them which does weight them to a specific result, and given that Lee had himself warned me about dodgy dice, when I asked him to change from fancy dice to normal dice his results went from one sided to a random average..

Cups, cups need to be big enough and shaken up and down to produce a random result. Small cups moved in a "stirring" fashion will give you the same result dependant on how you put them in the cup...

My personal peeve is dropped dice, e.g. they leave the hand and land without bounce or roll..

I know some of you are probably groaning at me :/ but we all want the same thing? a random result between 1 and 6?

Having worked in the casino industry for thirteen years on and off (off now thank god!) I've come to understand that it is all down to chance. If your lucks in it's in. If not... Casino dice are ok but remember that in a casino they're being rolled on a table covered with a baize and they still only use the dice for one shift. Because the edges are squared you will find that they are more likely to 'chip' (especially if you roll then on the table or they bounce onto the floor) and the edges chipping will effect the roll just as much as a slightly 'un-balanced' custom dice.

I've rolled higher than a seven only half a dozen times this season (and that includes the AG boost roll on my Chaos Warrior!) and I've used just about every dice in my bag! Just one of those things.

... Unless of course someone really is using 'loaded' dice. In which case dice sharing fixes that. Just sit back and watch as both teams head to the Dead and Injured box!

Casino dice do roll poorly on a table as the just don't roll very easily! On the confines of a table they tend to skid. I'd be up for obligatory sharing thus avoiding any offence caused by having to ask.
