Please post below if you are interested in joining in with the next game of Diplomacy, either after the current game is won or if it is finished early because it's been a bit of a mess so far with absent and forgetful players.

As always, 5-7 spaces available (better with seven of course).

  1. Prophaniti
  2. Ragnar the Destroyer
  3. GamesVaultSteve

Considering using droidippy to run this next game. droidippy is an online/android client for the game that automatically processes orders and will automatically proceed if people miss deadlines. It also means that I can join in rather than adjudicate.

The system can be used to join a random game or to create invitational games. A basic account will only allow you to play one game at a time, or for $2/mo (or $12/yr) you can have unlimited games. Deadlines can be set as short as 30min up to 96hr, and each time a deadline rolls around it will proceed even without orders but this will affect your reliability stat (only relevant if you plan on playing in random games and don't want to keep getting stuck in with new players who might stop bothering to play - which slows it right down)

So, who would be up for doing it this way?

Spoiler! :
invitation code if you want to join my test game for this is z4bb4bi

How many of you guys are on facebook? The other option being pHpDiplomacy (dot net IIRC). They are identical versions of online Diplomacy. You can set a maximum turn length, but it will play immediately if all orders are submitted, it has integral private and global messaging. I can put a password on it to limit players. There are also player options to pause and vote for winners/draws.

Yeah. That would be the "zany" sense of humour that the forum admin has. Coupled with his reputation for making inappropriate replacements in the word filter we have a whole bunch of broken links scattered across the forum.

Any link to facebook is broken because of the auto replace.

Example: https://www.facebook.com/thegamesvault

Okay, where are all of the links to facebook? Are they really valid any more? Last update to it was 11th June 2011.

To that page, sure. But if I wanted to link to something current on fb should I really have to break the forum or use a third party url to do so?

In the history of the forum there is only one link to FB and its not used anymore. I don't see there being massive demand to be able to post links there.

Fair enough. It doesn't really affect me as I've known about it for a while now. It just feels like it goes beyond being an amusing replacement for an occasionally used word into being something that is potentially a hindrance. (And yes, I realise that any of the amusing replacements that you've put into the forum could break a link, but this one is more likely to be used in that manner.)
