Can anyone recommend a good 2 player game please.

Mrs Steve has said we can have the occasional wine and board game night :D :D :D :D :D :D.

I think Lee pointed out the The Game of Thrones card game was not great for 2.

If you are set on a 2 player card game then android:netrunner is good although tough to learn as you have different rules depending on if you are attacking or defending. And it's 2 player only.

I second Carc, the base set is just fine. Ticket to ride is a favourite couples game with me and the misses... As is pandemic.

Lords of Waterdeep does play well as a two-player.

As much fun as blood bowl team manager is, I doubt it's great for two players. Add a couple of kids into the mix and it certainly works

Cheers guys.

Might pick up Lords then as Mrs Steve loves The forgotten realms.

BBTM as a 2p game isn't too bad. Each round has four highlights dealt and as soon as two are committed the others are taken away. Second place prizes in tournaments don't exist. Have played it 2p a few times and enjoyed it.

Team manger is much better with 3 or 4.

Waterdeep works great with 2 and is a very different game than with more as you get more workers to place. It really benefits from players who read the cards and get into the theme a little bit.

Finally got around ton playing Lords of Water deep over the weekend.

Really enjoyed. Nice simple resources management game with a few nice touches. Played it with just the two of us and it worked well. Good flavour to the game especially as Kerry enjoys reading forgotten realms books.

Would be keen to play a bigger game up the club one evening then I will have the excuse to buy the expansion :D

Sorry Steve not been on the forums for a while. You could have borrowed my copy to try first.

Glad you enjoyed it.
I've got the expansion if you want me to bring it up to the club one night?
Not got it to the table but the new metrics look fun.

I think LoWD plays better with more than 2 but is still good with 2.
My wife used to like this two player however now she will always ask to play Agricola instead (go figure...).
In fact she even tries to talk newbie gamers into Agricola family version as their first game :o

Another great game that I got off Harroguk is Discworld. Plays well 2 player and even better with 4. Its a hidden role plus placement game.
It is the game that has come out the most with our friends as it is very easy to learn but engaging. This was the game that hooked my wife into playing games again :)

Carcassonne is good with two (as you probably know) as is Voluspa (never play this with more than 3). We enjoy both if we are after a quicker game.

Netrunner is awesome however a bit confrontational. I love it, Lea needs to be in the mood for it. She likes Warhammer Invasion more or summoners wars.

Lately we have started Pathfinder Adventure Card Game. Despite initially thinking to myself this game is pretty much not a game... it works well as a two player easy game if you can imagine the theme behind it... Plus has progression which helps with the just one more game...

A bit disappointed it took you from October to February to get the LoWD game in... Turn off that TV, send the kids to bed, crack open a bottle or two of wine and enjoy!!!!! Make it a weekly or monthly thing... Just remember to let her win sometimes (hee hee sexist remark that hopefully my wife wont see) :D

Thanks Pete,

my better half was happy try Lowd as she enjoys the Forgotten Realms book, Dritzz etc so the backgroun flavour appealed. Managed a 5 player game at the club last week and loved it.

Not sure how "gamey" a game I can get away with at home.

I will probably take your advice and try Carcassonne next as that an "hitorical" game not a nerdy one :D And we have been there on holiday.
