I would like us to use this going forwards to announce that you will be attending the club on a weekly basis and arrange games for each weekly games session.

Personally I disagree with this. I think bringing people to the fourms is an important part of our community and the weekly arange games thread is an important part of this.

There is no reason why Meetup shouldn't become part of that community.

The relocation of our arranging games threads to Meetup shouldn't change anything - besides opening us up to a much wider audience.

I understand your concerns re: the community but I feel the benefits far outweigh potential problems. Also, this is a 3 month trial. Should the annoyances supercede new members / greater awareness, then we can always change back.

This will mean that people dont "need" to come to the forums if they simply want to sign up to attend, this will reduce the chance that they will see other threads that they may be interested in.

Currently we are seeing around 35 unique visitors a day.

Also this will drag away much of the conversation that goes on in the arrange games to "Meetup" thus splitting the community. I am not a fan at the moment.

I'm also split. I've got a meetup account but don't really use it.

I originally found Fire and Dice via the Cov Gamers forums, which in return saw no visitors from FnD joining in with other clubs or promoting themselves to a dedicated forum for local gamers. I've not used it for anything else and don't attend FnD currently as it's too far away for me atm.

However, I am in favour of anything that promotes the club as nothing really has been done since the closure of the Vault and the club has been fairly stagnant for a while.

I'll wait and see but don't necessarily expect to actually see me at meetup as it's just one more thing that I need to remember do when the forum is already front and centre of my newsreader.

The problem I think, is that it's all well and good trying to get new players. But we probably won't have anywhere to put them.

If there are more than a handful of bloodbowl games on and Darrell is in the little room it's going to be a big struggle.

Clicking the Map link on the meetup page will send people to the wrong place.

Jack, more players means more subs means more flexibility in finding a venue. We could also arrange to hire the rest of the cafe area or even the main hall so long as the Phoenix can provide some extra tables.

Anything that increases the gaming group cant be a bad thing, and it can't hurt to give it a whirl. Its not going to change how i use the forums.

I'm actively not going to use Meetup, really don't want to sign up to another site just to arrange games when there's a perfectly good system. I'll just have to make do with PMs I guess.

We were only discussing last night how our league has reduced in numbers and may shrink further in the off season, This is something Stuart wants to try out in an attempt to reverse the trend, can't hurt to give it a try can it?

I already knew about the shop and had dabbled in getting back to gaming however work had been prohibitive to attending a club.

Motivation for searching for the club was walking into the town to buy a game. Found the shop was shut so googled and found the forum. Then noticed in the garage my blood bowl box from years ago... Then played a match with the misses and decided heck I'm sure I can wiggle the work diary to attend at least once a fortnight.

So google really plus belated area knowledge?
