Anyone asked about the band hall just up the road from the pheonix centre? Or the new college right next door?

I have asked before as the band hall is right by my house. It's pretty expensive.

Certainly more so than the Phoenix.

To be honest, it's probably going to be difficult to find somewhere as cheap as the Phoenix. What's it work out at currently, £10/hour?

Indeed, anywhere that needs paying for is essentially out. However pubs and clubs who want to sell drink or food may provide a location for free

I have no time to commit to this at the moment.

I am happy to stand down as commissioner / etc. if required, but I simply don't have the time / energy to find and arrange a new venue.

Steve's suggestion seems good, but I live in Southam now and don't have the capacity to get down and check it out at the moment.

I checked out the Scout hall I was aware off but it's not available at the right time (and would probably be more expensive than £10/hr if it were).

Right spoke to the Group Scout leader for Daventry. Scout hall only available on tuesday night and only after 8pm. Would cost in the region of £30. This would I imagine rule out this suggestion.

For £30 per night you would need...

£2 = 15 people minimum
£3 = 10 people minimum
£4 = 8 people
£5 = 6 people

How many people do you get at the club REGULARLY?

£20 per night is...
£2 = 10 people
£3 = 7 people
£4 = 5 people
£5 = 4 people

And I think people will pay more if asked.

The key problem is having a venue that has the capacity for the following:

Up to several games of Bloodbowl simultaniously

A large table space (4 x 4 / 6 x 4) for wargaming

a quiet area for roleplaying

a couple of tables for boardgaming.

It needs to be available from around 7-7:30 til 11:00 ish

For me personally, Wednesday is the best day.

Steve assures me that his venue could hit these things though

Everything else - food / drink etc. is gravy.

Everything was good till this badly organized youth club/type thing turned up, if the people that ran the hall saw what we had to put up with surely we could negotiate a discount or their removal?

Hi all.

You are and have been doing a great job Stuart. As we can see there are lots of people on here happy to help with venue scouting. It would appear the phoenix centre no longer ticks all the boxes.

The place I am suggesting is the Hideout cafe in Sheaf Street. One of the owners Darren is happy to staff it on a Wednesday evening 7pm - 11pm. Obviously as its a bistro style cafe we wpuld then have the opportunity to purchase refreshments possibly snacks and its licensed. Parking would not be a problem in the Aldi car park.

Thee are lots of 2 x 2 (ish) table that can be put together for gaming. I have enquired about possible storage of a couple of 6' x 4' boards for bigger games and maybe a couple of 4' x 4' boards. Enough room for everyone I think. Roleplayers can play at the back, everyone else in the front.

Has anyone else been in who could give an opionion. May even be able to nab another room further in.

Not sure what we pay at the moment.

I would alos suggest that a change of venue would be a good time to increase subs to £2.50.

If you want to pop in Jack and have a look that would be good.
