If anybody has any venue suggestions please feel free to let me and Stuart know. Subs at the moment are just barely covering venue hire so we either need to find a cheaper (and hopefully better) venue, increase subs, or get more new players to come regularly.

edited to add: we're not in dire straits though,m and nothing is going to change in the near future. This isn't some sort of dramatic warning, just a passing note after Jack's statement.

Peppermill @ Stefan Hill has a function room.

If there is no role play going on at the club then back to the football club?

Working mens club if they can be persuaded to give a room for drink/food sales.

Do any other bars in town have function rooms?

I think if you move you should be aiming for somewhere with no subs.

IIRC the problem with the football club was that they kept cancelling our bookings at short notice.

There's role playing in the small room at least every other week (we're using it on the 5th, hence my comment) though I'm not sure what happens in it the weeks that I'm not there.

Not sure how loosing access to the bits we weren't meant to have access to in the first place should be a reason to move. (Not that I'm innocent of using them myself.)

It's not the loss of bits we shouldn't have had, just a general case of the subs only just being enough at the moment and we're paying quite a lot for a mediocre space with a bunch of nearly broken tables. (I'm pretty sure legs shouldn't fall off like these ones do!)

On the D&D off weeks the little room sometimes get used for Blood Bowl overflow or other tabletop stuff, but the other main RP group got fed up of having broken/missing tables and chairs and intermittent access to the room during refurbishment so we play at one of our homes instead now.

I think I know a guy who is involved with the Working Mens so I can ask what they have available out of curiosity.

Anyway, this was just an aside as a response to Jack's statement and some chatting that Stuart and I have been doing. If we're going to carry on discussing we should probably take it to a relevant thread.

There is also the small sports club in timkin.

That nerd cafe seen keen to promote geekery. If you can pitch sales of snacks that might work out cheap.

Probably more tables the te Phoenix centre

Morning Chaps,
On this discussion of a new venue and subs. Our demo evening of Bolt Action was not only great fun but a great turnout for its very first try out. I think we had at least 6 players and a couple of other chaps that looked dead keen on joining in too. I hope and am confident that Bolt Action is goingto be a popular game and bring in the local chaps as it did last Wednesday. By the way who collects the subs on the night? Is it an honesty box policy? I should be at the club this Wednesday for bolt Action so will pay last weeks subs as well as this weeks.

I will make enquiries at the Daventry Scout Hall just by the country park, opposite the Icon building. I used to be involved with the Scouts and I know it has more than enough room in the main hall. It also has good tables and chairs on site. I believe we could even get a section for storage. They hire it out to other non proffit organisations so will come back to you as soon as I have information.

Should I PM this to anyone on the committee specifically or post here on the forum?

Let me know chaps

Mike

Mike,
The scout hut would be ideal but when we enquired previously we we "guided" to look elsewhere. Maybe with you assistance we can put subs in the scouts pockets.

Subs was always handed to Stuart or Pete previously so best bet would be to speak to them. As I recall your first week was always free.

On the subject of scout halls, there's one over on the industrial estate near TBS that has a huge hall. No idea if it's busy wednesday nights but I could find out if people are interested. I'm not pushing to move as I think the pheonix centre is decent (if a little cosy).

Worth asking mate!

The tables do seem to be reducing!
