So, first of all I want to preface this with the fact that I don't wish to step on anyone's toes.

It has become apparent, that generally speaking there is not currently the space to play tabletop games at the Phoenix during BB season. There simply is not the space nor the tables.

I have a proposition, and I am hoping that those concerned will comment.

I propose we do a tabletop night perhaps once a fortnight on a not Wednesday at the scout hut in braunston.

They have the space and tables for 4 x 4x4 tables or a
Mixture of larger and smaller. Which is ideal for tabletop.

I like to play tabletop games, as do a few others and it is pretty much impossible currently.

I don't want to take members from Wednesday club, in fact I would like to do it in tandem.

As I understand it, we don't really have the cash flow in consistent attendance to make one large venue viable.

The perk of the scout hit, is that they require donations instead of a set fee, although I am currently in discussion re prices.

So, even of it's not full I don't particularly need to worry about set overheads as long as the scout hut gets some money for their venue.

Effectively, I wanna set up a tabletop specific night where I know we have space to play. Which can't happen at the Pheonix currently.

Thoughts?

I'm not really a wordsmith so please best with me!

To summarise.

Similar price to normal vaulters

Not on a Wednesday (don't want to steal members)

Guaranteed places to play warmachine/bolt action/40k

Shame that it's too small to move the whole club really, but for tabletop stuff it would he great

Jack,

I have no problem with people tabletopping elsewhere.

That said, I would ideally like for the club to be a venue that could accommodate this.

The biggest problem, as I see it, is that the things that we NEED for the club are:

A quiet roleplaying area.
Enough table space for one (or currently two) board games
Capacity for 1-5 games of Bloodbowl.

These are consistently required on a week to week basis. The club can just about guarantee this.

We could book additional space at the Phoenix to guarantee room for tabletop games - but we would have to commit to a booking for a length of time.

The erratic requirement of additional space for tabletop gaming means that we couldn't afford to commit to additional space that may, or may not be needed.

Bolt action / Warmahordes / Malifaux / Shiny miniatures game of the week will come and go, and if there was a consistent, weekly, guaranteed requirement then we could accommodate. I just don't think this is practical.

The ability to bleed into the other parts of the Phoenix when the hall is not occupied (prior to the youth club arriving and hopefully going forward if they move to Monday) is ideal, but is not something we can and do pay for. This works if people want to turn up, ad-hoc for tabletop gaming. This is not, however, something we can account for to guarantee that space.

I totally understand the issues with trying to incorporate it with normal club nights.

Board games and bloodbowl are your bread and butter, I get that.

As far as consistent need, I can't guarantee this personally as I'm sure no one can. Work, family and other commitments happen.

I think that is why a once a month or 2 weekly system may work better for specific 'shiny games'

I could only half commit at best. I have two other clubs for Tabletop stuff and they are a stronger draw most of the time.

I'd still be up for some games (and not just Warmachine).

Don't forget that even the rooms at the shop couldn't cater to all of our needs in one night, and that was space dedicated to the club.

I don't think we are going to find a venue that can be all things to all people. Having a different night at a venue suitable for tabletop is a great compromise and I hope it works out.

Of course, if we ever do come across that ideal venue then tabletop gamers can look at rejoining us on the "main" club night, but until then we can still all be one big happy gaming club family.

Thanks man, appreciate it!

Would love to keep if all together, but I just don't think it's viable at this stage
