Yes this was explained to me by Nobby on Sunday when I enquired about the fate of Sefu. Ohhh well I guess you never should split the party...

NOCCIARBO NEWS
Castle Onnaker Falls!

In a decisive move yesterday, the Combined People's Militiae of Nocciarbo, Millers Junction and Monsellio, aided by Dwarves from Freecloud Mountain and the Heroes of the Zephyrous, stormed the Castle of the decadant Baron Onnaker, and defeated his guard.

420 men and women of the barony took arms against the Tyrant, and lead by the Ranger Jon Ansell, attacked the Castle Onnaker. Lady Finlandia and Jon Ansell lead the Heroes of the Zephyrous in a sneak attack on the gatehouse, breaching the gate and allowing the Militiae to storm within the curtain.

100 of the corrupt Baron's mercenaries were killed, wounded or routed from the field. Of our brave Militiae, 150 were wounded in action, of whom most have survived thanks to the swift efforts of Madam Minerva and Brother Gedrald on the field.

Triumph of the People

Foreman Puccilone of the Nocciarbo Lumber Merchantry hailed the victory, praising the bravery and sacrifice of the Militiae.
"By uniting against the vile Baron, we have ended his reign of terror. Our thanks go out to the selfless efforts of the Refugees of the Zephyrous, who aided us in our hour of need. The People of Nocciarbo will never forget the sacrifice of brave Sefu and Nathaniel."

"Only a Fool Fights in a Burning House"

When the Keep was breached, Baron Onnaker and his mercenaries set fire to the great hall to hamper the brave efforts of the vanguard.
"Lady Finlandia bound the Baron in a magic web," said Ranger Nevillo (32), who was in the vanguard. "But some bright spark set it on fire, and the whole place went up."
The heroes fought mercenaries through the keep. Onnaker delployed his (non-Guild) wizard, Oliver Mortione, who used magic to kill several of the brave rangers.

Vile Baron Vanquished

The Baron escaped from the web, but was finally cornered by the foreigner Fel and Eleanor Stormhallow of the Zephyrous, and slain. The Heroes of the Zephyrous were merciful to the servants and staff of the defeated Tyrant, who were concerned with extinguishing the fire.
The Heroes pursued the wizard Mortione to his tower, and there vanquished him in a magical battle.

"Look to the Future"

What lies beneath the conquered Castle, and what secrets the dungeons hold is not known at this time.
The Heroes of the Hour were unavailable for comment after their exhausting combat. Foreman Puccilone, speaking on the field of battle this evening, said that all of the Onnaker Barony must now unite to make a better day for tomorrow.

What are the immediate plans of your PCs?
You are currently effectively in charge - you have the field, and your enemy is defeated.
Here are some options and circumstances you may want to consider:
  • What do you want to do with the few guards (a dozen or so) who surrendered to the People's Militia?
  • Many of the defeated guards are only wounded, not dead. What do you want to be done with them?
  • The bodies of your dead comrades (Sefu and Sir Nathaniel) have been found - what do you want to do with them?
  • Are there any of the common soldiers (including any who died) that you want to honour?
  • The castle dungeons below may hold prisoners, and more guards or monsters.
  • Where are you sleeping?

Before heading off to rest, Eleanor suggests to the other 'Heroes of the Zephyrous' (pfft.. hehe) that all entrances to the cellars/prisons be found and guards placed at each one, while the party and the most able bodied of the remaining town militia go down and get any hidden castle guard or goblins, and release any more prisoners that are found.
Vaguely pleased, on her return to the surface, to have finally got a mention by name in the local paper, exhausted Eleanor then seeks out a place to retire for a night's rest in the castle.
Those silky rooms the gnome found are a bit gaudy and tasteless, but they look bloody comfy, so in we go.

She also suggests, before retiring, that Sefu and Nathaniel be buried in the castle grounds (if there is anything that passes for a graveyard there, or if not, make one for everyone who died here, or at least some kind of memorial.) This should be done the next morning with all of us present who want to say anything or just pay respects.
She didn't know either Sefu or Nathaniel very well, come to think of it - just a few days of fighting together that felt like months... but good, courageous, un-hesitant fighters they were, and she respects this in anyone. Despite the briefness of her acquaintance with them, she may even look back on them as friends as time goes on...
(Neither of them had spiked chains, so she's not really interest in nicking any of their kit.)

Eleanor isn't really fussed about what is done with the other castle guards who survived or surrendered - just figures that if they've stopped fighting, none of them should be hurt.

I really need this information well before we start back in February, so that I can plan for the first session.

Your actions at this time will determine the way the game moves forward, and the way that the new characters are introduced.

Not really grasping the fundamental nature of death, Fel only considers Nathaniel to be "broken" - consequently, after spending some time doing what repairs she can on herself, she will spend the night searching for something suitable to carry him (or the pieces of him) in so that he might be repaired later. Anything will do that she can carry herself - whether it be a Bag of Holding, or a hand cart.

She will concentrate on the main castle area, and not venture too far down into the cellars/dungeons - if she can't find anything easily, she'll hassle one of the castle's inhabitants to find something instead.

Extract from Imad's diary following the attack on the Inn during the night by Shadows, ghouls, bats, wolves and an unseen foe who directed the attack from above.

"I am weak in body....................But my mind is strong and filled with wonderful colours of Dio. Spititual energy fills my soul and...............Dio's RAGE!

Rage and holy hatred of the fould undead thing that plagued us last night forcing the dead to rise up against us and normally timmid wild animals to attack us.

Dio has sent us to this place and I WILL carry out his bidding.

The attack by the Shadows has left physically weak. I am unable to wear my armour. I will ask my companions to carry it for me to the place of battle. In have magic that will enable me to wear my armour and weild my hammer once we arrive at the creatures lair.

We must set off as soon as we are rested to give us some daylight to search for it. For the night brings it power.

Once we find it I will face him and destroy him. Do not stand in my way as I will unleash all the Holy Fury that Dio gives me.

It will be a sight of power and beauty. When I am finished I will be weak but my enemy will be slain........................

I will tell the story of Dio's power through me tomorrow."

Right on, this has been a crazy few weeks!
It seems like such a long time ago when I woke in my village and went out to sea on my wave board into the mighty storm. I’m not sure what happened out there but I all know is that Parwethe was smiling on me that day.
I was smoking my pipe and praying to the great Sea God when I felt empowered to speak words of far greater power than ever before. I knew not the meaning of these words or what would happen when I spoke them but something inside of me was telling me to say them man...
That was when The God King spoke to me from the saddle of his golden eagle.
He told me a glorious tale and explained that I needed to travel far far away into the desert to fulfil his task.
So I set about doing as he wished. I explained to my friends what had happened and we had the most awesome party to say farewell. The next day I went to the church of Parwethe to collect my belongings. The High priest wished me luck and warned me of the men that dwel outside of Ouethedor and how a fine Elven maiden like myself could be a target for their sins....a girl can hope eh!
So here I am now, in a strange new town. The landscape is so wrong without water and I must admit I do miss being able to use my wave board instead of this horse. But needs must, and Yaverei has set me a most important task.
I am staying in a really big house with people who charge you to sleep and drink their wine. I tried paying them with Shells and a big fish, as is customary in Ouethedor. But they didnt like that, so I had to go and do some work for a trader to earn some wierd coin things. I dont see the point of them personally. There have been many men offering to buy me wine but I have refused.I like to stick my the mantra of a great Ouethcenne wise man who teaches that “Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction”And that why we are the oldest and most wise of elves.

There is a long tradition of RPers recycling good character names. Clearly there's no connection between this character and Hordes and / or Warmachine.
