PostPosted: Mon Apr 28, 2008 11:21 pm
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS THREAD IS FOR GROUP 1

.....and so it begins! Nobby does an old skool cliched intro to his campaign set in the Forgotten Realms....

......but everyone turned up and the room was full so thank you all for that.

More to follow..... :lots of love: :lots of love:

NOBBY'S HOUSE RULES

Some of the following is standard AD&D but I am detailing it here for convenience.

Healing

Other than spells, healing wounds can be achieved by two other standard means. One is 'binding wounds' which can be done for 1D4+1 hit points once per day (24 hour period) - it must be done by one character on another - it is not possible to do anything other than staunch wounds to oneself. However when done by another (no particular skills needed) the sympathetic nervous system kicks in and gives you renewed energy!!

The second is rest. Each day of inactivity gives 1 hit point per day of rest for the first seven days (although characters with poor constitution reduce that number on a weekly basis by their HP Modifier with the first days gaining no recovery effectively). Thereafter each week is 1 hp per day with each week modified by any bonus to constitution on a weekly basis.

Regardless of the number of hit points a character has, 4 weeks of continuous rest will restore any character to full strength.

Zero Hit Points

0 hit points = unconcious
-1 or more means an additional 1 hp of automatic damage happens each round until -10 when death occurs
-6 or more means some disfigurement or scarring could be possible
and the character will be in a coma for 1D6 turns

Level Advancement...

....is not automatic. Training and money will be required. XP gained may not take you to more than 1 xp point from the maximum for that new level...i.e. it is not possible to train for 2 levels simultaneously. Depending on your ratings you may be able to self-train (which takes longer but may be convenient), or alternatively you will have to seek a tutor.

But rest assured you need funds and time.

The Calendar of Harptos

12 months of 30 days with 5 special days between certain months (6 on a leap year).
Each 30 days period divided into three ten day periods known as eves, tendays, domen, hyrar or rides depending on where you are in the Realms

Months as follows:

January - Hammer or Deepwinter
Special Day - Midwinter
February - Alturiak, The Claw of Winter or the Claws of Cold
March - Ches of the Sunsets
April - Tarsakh of the Storms
Special Day - Greengrass
May - Mirtul or The Melting
June - Kythorn or The Time of Flowers
July - Flamerule or Summertide
Special Day - Midsummer
August - Eleasias or Highsun
September - Eleint or The Fading
Special Day - Higharvestide
October - Marpenoth or Leafall
November - Uktar or The Rotting
Special Day - The Feast of The Moon
December - Nightal or The Drawing Down

More to follow......

Shaking his head, Tomric casts his mind back to a sign he saw outside the Staggering Giant Saloon in Waymoot:
Quote:
FOR SALE: Torches
CHEAP RATES TO ADVENTURERS
For all your fire-starting and illumination needs

An excellent first session, and the scenery only made it better. Though I don't think anything can compare to Tomric's attempts to cast fireball.

That or he could have read it off the contract, which you signed before him.

Edit: Or were you the palmprint signer? I can't remember who that was.

Post subject: DM Story Part 1....
PostPosted: Wed Apr 30, 2008 10:56 am
....and so it began.

Set in the Forgotten Realms, it was in late spring that this tale began. In the sleepy pasture-land situated to the south of Easting and North of the Troll Mountains there was trouble afoot.

Several graveyards in local villages had been desecrated. Grave robbers were suspected of unearthing the tombs and strewing bones around the cemetery(s). Only one remained untouched and that was in the Daufin. Not to be confused with the Daufin in Southern Amn - this pleasant farming village was not used to trouble.

The local clergy were beside themselves with concern. The Church of the village was dedicated to Tymora, Goddess of Good Luck and they were hoping that it was their faith in her that had protected them until now.

However the rather portly curate in charge was taking no chances. Hannes had decided that he would rather protect his deceased flock and hire a bunch of sturdy types to guard and possibly even detain the culprits.

Jilla his understudy seems a little less concerned by the troubles but nonetheless is supportive of his actions.

Fortunately for Hannes when he asks for support in the curiously named ("The Empty Tankard") inn, an eclectic bunch of individuals including one local, Delfin, volunteer to stand guard. A fee of 3 gp per person per night is agreed as well as a bounty of 500 gp if the grave robbers are caught!

From there the night unfolded into mayhem with a successful outcome for the graveyard guards.

After the initial disturbance the remainder of the night is calm. In the morning Hannes and Jilla return to the graveyard to discover that it was not grave robbers but some evil witch raising the skeletons from their graves!!! Not only did the group put the poor deceased villagers back to rest but they also....er....detained.....well dealt with the witch.

The guards are all treated extremely well by the whole village on their return in the morning and once word of their deeds spreads a day of celebration is declared by Hannes. He funds food and drink for all as well as living up to his promise of paying a reward. The remains of the villagers are put back into their graves and Hannes and Jilla offer to heal any injured members of the guard party as would like.

As far as Delfin is concerened, well suffice to say he did not get paid and has not been seen today...most likely too embarrassed by his over-indulgence!!!

More to follow..........

N.B. THE REASON NO MORE DETAIL HAS GONE IN IS TO ALLOW PLAYERS TO WRITE THEIR OWN ACCOUNTS OF WHAT HAPPENED AS THEY SAW IT!!!

Yes I was the only one to Mark the contract with an "x".

I feel that I have a long way to go before I earn the trust of my new comrades, if ever I can earn your trust. Let me tell you this, I ALWAYS keep my word. So beware when it is given!

Despite nervous glances, allies avoiding me and even moving away, I will stay to see how this tale unfolds...............................

And as for you elf, I am no ORC!! I am half Orc, not by my choice or my mothers, but by force. I hate orcs, and there are certain montain orcs that I will one day visit.

I ask you elf to hold your tongue in future about my unfortunate heritage, if not I may have to cut it out........
