Firstly, a brief history lesson.

The year was 2000, when I happened to get acquainted with a few guys who played this really cool game that was set in the grim future. After much deliberation I developed an unhealthy obsession for anything hailing from the planet Olimpia and was adorned with chevrons (curse you Graham McNeill). For the next 7 years I would happily turn up at a mates house muttering 'Iron Within, Iron Without' to myself, but, like the great dinosaurs the Iron Warriors time was about to end as I became obsessed with a new type of game, BloodBowl! As before, the last 7 years have been an endless conveyor belt of tournaments and league games and although BloodBowl is still very much alive within my gaming schedule, my colleagues and I felt the need for variation. We turned to many games until settling on Malifaux, a game we felt could co-exist with BB. Then they went and announced that the rules were being updated! For once, sensibility would take over and we would hold fast and wait for the new releases, Lucius and his crew would have to wait, a story for another day (and thread!). So what else could we do in the meantime? 40K seemed ludicrously expensive for starting again, so the choice became simple, Warmahordes was back!

Now, what happened last time I hear you say? It's very simple really, I joined the campaign and suddenly went from a 15pt game then to 25pts followed by a 35pt game etc, etc. Being a tad older than many of you my capacity for learning is a lot more methodical (ok, ok, slow then  ). Now I can play 15pt games till my hearts content and ease into the larger games, problem solved. Which brings me nicely to my new faction, Circle.

15pts of Circle list to start me off is pretty simple as are my reasons for choosing each choice:

eKruger - he can fly and comes with something called Telekinisis which I think is pretty cool.

WoldWarden - was him or the Guardian, must admit I read a few bits on him and this Geomancy spell thingy seems an important thing to have in your arsenal.

Pureblood - a wolf that goes 'ghostly', 'nuff said.

Shifting Stones - pretty glad to get these in at 15pts as mastering them seems to be a big tactical side to playing Circle, so more games with them at the beginning helps.

That's the starting list, feel free to comment on my choices (I am afterall a complete noob at this), and as games are played, models get painted, when advice on tactics is needed, and (hopefully) interesting battle reports are posted up we can resurrect WM/H and see it thrive next to BloodBowl, RPG and Malifaux in Daventry.

Aahh, the good old days. I remember putting a force of Iron Warriors for the 'Eye of Terror' campaign. Never played a game mind you, but still...

As for Hordes, always fancied an Everblight force myself. Tried getting into this last year with Skorne but found the background a little 'meh'. Think that's just me though. Too used to GW and her 30 years of back story. :?

Gazza, glad to have you back!

The one thing I think may cause you problems is a lack of real armour cracking power.

I'm gonna try and find a tutorial as magnetising the plastic wolf lets you try all 3 for the price of 1.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Well, I went ahead and took my first step to mastering this game. An eKruger and Wolf kit are now ordered and will hopefully be here sooner rather than later (I have an all day tutorial booked in for the 4th don't you know :lots of love: ). Next job is to source some scenic base inserts with a suitable 'Circle' feel to them (I admit i have turned into a very lazy hobbyist now and will probably send them off to be painted, *hint* *hint* to all you excellent commission painters out there  ). Although, as a very good mate pointed out to me, it's about getting together and having some fun games with your comrades.

Early posts on this thread will just be about getting my force together and picture(s) of base inserts/models etc until games have started (I can tell by your faces that your very excited at the prospect of these exhilarating informative snippets coming your way  ).

@Jack - appreciate the magnet information but will probably acquire another wolf at some point and probably run with 2 (all part of the learning process  ) if I lack some armour-chewing hitting power.

I Look forward to seeing your progress and will start a thread of my own when I aquire my army start... Have to admit that painting a hordes army is much less daunting than doing the same for 40k :)

What faction are you going to go Robin? It would be good to get a nice variety of enemies to chew through with the Pigs.

Erm

Pureblood can warp for strength but is only takes it up to pow 16. Which is rather pillow fisted!

Awesome choice. He slept with the wild Dire Trolls and is now one with them, if I remember my fluff correctly. So it'll be him and a load of big monsters? :D :D :D
