With the addition of the painting and modelling forums its time to split my army blog with a hobby thread.

First up question, when painting line of sight rcy, do you just paint the 2 side lines?

Going to bring a new caster to the 16th... my list looks like this:-

Chief Madrak Ironhide

Dire troll Mauler
Earthbourne dire troll
Mulg the ancient

Krielstone bearer and 3 stone scribes

Trollkin rune bearer
Janissa stonetide
Troll whelps

My list was more elaborate... but with the issue of timed turns (and being able to count on 1 hand my number of games played) with the help of young Jack we drastically reduced my model count,

2 weeks to paint 7 models and finish 2 more... sounds like a breeze :)

I like to paint the two side lines on everything and then one little line at the back for unit leaders

To clearly show the facing of models

It's easier to hit things in their back arc.

Base lines remove the discrepancy between where a front/back of a model is. Certainly not required, but it's generally done

So you know who is in your melee arc and when yr entitled to free strikes.

Alot of people mark a line straight in front. This marks facing when you have charged a model. Personally I don't but it's becoming more popular in addition to the side markings

Out of curiosity, I was wondering how strong people thought their (and each others) lists were?

From my point of view... my list is based around timed turn model count and what I have in my collection, however saying that I also think my list very strong!!? - to counter this however I have no experience and merely a redamentary grip on the basic rules :D

As far as the other lists go... mostly they are just words on a screen :(

I like both actually,

Sparky, yours is a relatively traditional madrak list which is strong as a rock.

They key to your list in my opinion is the activation of everything.

You need to make sure that the stone gives out it's armour buff, everyone is in your sure foot bubble and that you do Jannissa's wall in front of your stuff.

Gazza has tonnes of the best circle stuff, including Druids and the wolf.

I think the thing that will benefit Gazza the most is that he has played a lot of games already with the same stuff.

Not sure what matts taking, but he seems to be doing well enough!

My list is totally undecided, it will probably be Kraye I think. Just because he is super cool

Madrak took to the field last night in a trial of the classic 'Beast brick' - Mr Jackolas is going to do the battle report in due course, but thought i'd highlight my learning points for all to see and show the evolvement of my list for next weeks trial vs Mr Gazza.

Firstly will talk about the warcaster.

Good points,

Madrak is very durable, effective def 22 arm 24. 18 boxes tough he would take some putting down (so much so i have a hunter a shot at him and Jack didnt even bother electing to target Janissa instead)

Sure feet is a great addition to the 'brick' +2 def cant be knocked down 6" radius... sweeet!

Negative

Madrak sits in the middle of the brick and upkeeps Sure Feet... and thats about it

Now... For me Warmahordes is all about the casters, and finding the right fit is essential for my gaming experience, Does Madrak work in the brick? Yes absolutley, he sits about perfect, his buff is superb and he's tough as nails should someone snap it open. Maybe if i were a better player i would get more out of him and he could break out at the appropriate time and insert axe in face... But currently for me sitting mid bubble and upkeeping just isnt gravy... i want more from my main man.

Step up eDoomy, He sits firmly in the bracket of Support caster without a doubt. And his buffs actually make the brick less hardy, but (I Hope) His His role will be more than upkeep spell A. Feed Krielstone. camp fury.

With that in mind, i've adapted my List as Follows

Hoarluk Doomshaper Rage of Dhunia
Dire Troll Mauler
Earthbourner Dire Troll
Mulg the Ancient
Kreilstone bearer and stone scribes (min)
Janissa stonetide
Troll Whelps
Alten Ashley Monster hunter

The Beasts were Brilliant, taking Whelps lets me run them Hot when i need to and Keeping a Low model count will help me to Stick somewhere near to 7 minute Turns.

On that note, I've made a list of my models and written MAT / RAT /DEF / ARM in a handy lookup table and on the opposite page written the Buff mods do said DEF / ARM that i can quickly look them up . I'm assuming this is allowed? I hope so else my opponent will also struggle to finish his turns as he hits one of mine and i scratch my head working out wat he needs to roll :)

I Look forward to next week and assess Doomy's role in the list and (hopefully) get a little more out of him

I ofcourse meant doom shaper.

As far as notes go, I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was my tourney, as far as I know nothing official says no.

Will have a word with Barrie.

I would imagine it would be alright, as long as Robin also has the official cards/book to back up his stats.

It will be good to see the Mad, Racist Troll Caster roaming the battlefields of MK next weekend.
