Cry havoc let slip the hogs of war! :D :lots of love:

Apologies for the poor pic but the weather today... :(

Taken a few hours of sticking and filling but I've finally finished my first 15pts of Thornfall goodness! Although he looks worse in the picture due to the angle, I'm a little worried that the Road Hog's legs aren't actually strong enough to hold it up... I'm expecting to come down tomorrow morning and find him flat on his face! He isn't leaning forward as far as he appears above (in real life it looks a little more like he's rushing forward) but I've had to use his weapon arms to brace the torso and strengthen the somewhat weak legs.

Already have the next 10pts in mind and (partly thanks to Jackolas) I'm already planning to step up to 35pts with the help of a certain Mercenary Trollkin! :lots of love:

EDIT - Edited post to include clearer picture! :D

Nice work there. If only there were some bovine warbeasts and you could keep up the Orwellian theme with A Homage to Cattleonia. ;)

Nice work! I have a roadhog I will have to tackle one day in the distant future! Have you considered Farrow Brigands? Under Carver they are pretty good all round troops.

They're going to be my next purchase Random. Either a small unit along with a Gun Boar or a full unit, as I have an extra Razor Boar sitting here! :lots of love:

Right... Bloody rain!

Due to the really crappy weather I've not been able to get out and base coat my piggies. Which is bad. But also might be good as I'm thinking of doing something a little 'different' with them...

I'm thinking of painting 'em green. Yes, that's right green. Think what would happen if Miss Piggy and Kermit actually bumped uglies. Think the pigs from Angry Birds. My big problem is that I'm doing this on a strict budget. A really strict budget, Mrs Zeds orders. This means that I have to use up the paints and materials I've already got lying around and this currently runs to enough Chaos Black primer (which I've always used) to undercoat half a halfling, a full can of Skull White, a can of Halfords grey car primer and a can of Army Painter 'Skeleton Bone' (sort of their version of bleached bone). I have all the equivalent colours in brush on paints so touching up is not a problem. My question (for all the vastly more talented brush lickers out there) is which colour do you think would make the best base coat for green skinned miniatures? All advice (and offers to paint them for me) gratefully received... :lots of love: :D

What you could do is spray grey and do a top-down dusting of white. That'll give you some instant shading if the green you use is at all transparent. If it covers well then grey or white will work fine, it's just a primer then.

I undercoat in white most of the time anyway. Undercoat white main skin colour green, ink the skin then highlight staring with the original green colour. When this is done go round all the detail and paint it black. The paint the detail after.

Just started a test run on a spare piggy and I have to say I'm not that impressed with the results so far... I think that black is a far more 'forgiving' base colour than grey or white. So far I seem to be constantly finding spots that its almost impossible to reach with even the smallest brush. With a black base coat this is much less noticeable. I'm going to persevere, like I say he's a spare but don't be surprised if the Bad Piggies never see the light of day! :? :lots of love:
