Its a while since I have thought of a new round event so here goes...

Harking back to the days of speedball

Another method of scoring is being added to the game (For one round only)

A dome has been placed on the "Kickoff Sweet Spot" (I assume everyone knows where this is)
You cannot move through the dome.
For the purposes of blocking it is immovable when dealing with push backs
It may be leaped over.

You score a 1/2 point (0.5) if the ball hits the dome for any reason (Last team to touch the ball gets the point).

You may throw the ball against any dome. (Normal throwing rules apply, no need for a catch)
You may kick the ball against the dome (From a kickoff)

You may fumble the ball against the dome (failed catch, failed pickup, ball stripped, blocked and dropped etc...)

If you successfully hit the dome you do not cause a turnover even if the ball ends up on the floor.
If the ball hits the dome it immediately scatters D6 squares in D8 direction.

Upon thinking about it, after any score it should be a turn over to make it more fun!!

The problem is that it is so unsafe to do if it causes a turnover people wont do it.

But fluff wise it makes sense i guess. Wouldn't be a failed catch result effectively? Also can the ball be handed off negating the need for a pass? If its an accurate pass does it count as a cp? And also how do you go about scoring a half point? if the end of the match comes about and players are 0.5 points scored how would you award SPP? I quite like it as it goes i think its would be a massively different game (nothing to do with my super fast/agile rats next season or anything lots of love) id just like to know how you would score it for the purposes of level10 input and stuff...

Maybe its something that could be added to dungeonbowl? A randomly teleporting dome that you gain 1SPP from making a pass too.

Firstly, make the fluff fit the rule, not the rule fit the fluff. Otherwise you just make broken stuff.

No handoffs (handoffs require a catch check and domes cant catch)

No spp for the "pass" spp are awarded for a successful pass and catch. Their is no catch roll.

No spp awarded for dome points. This is about winning a match, not skilling players.

I actually like the handoff option, u hand it off u play on, you throw it and it's a turn over. I believe this makes sense as it means you can potentially score 1 TD a turn but throwing it is a risky move and means the opposing team get a chance to also score. Although an accurate pass is required to score, right?

An accurate pass or a lucky series of scatters is required to hit the dome and if you hit the dome then no turnover is incurred even if the ball ends up on the floor.

I think that allowing handoffs onto the dome makes this a no brainer choice and it becomes your primary method of scoring (over TD). If the pass is required then its something you do when safe.

+ you could pass. hit the dome, pick up and hand off to the dome and then still pick it back up and make it safe.... seem a tad ott for a single turn of BB...
