Welcome to Magisterion Academy, where you can become tomorrow's hero - today!

This is largely an experiment in getting away from the standard fantasy hack & slash scenario by using a different format. As such, all comers are welcome, as are any comments and constructive criticism.

The basic premise is this; you're a student in a prestigious university in a fantasy setting dedicated to training up and producing adventurers and heroes. Each week (or so) you'll be given a different assignment, then left to accomplish it within the allotted time. There are several different activities you can carry out as part of this assignment; some of them take more time than others, but by the end of the timeslot, you have to "hand in" your assignment. Points awarded for each assignment can be used as XP to improve your character.

Character creation will be simple; Pick a Background (set of basic stats) and a Degree Course (skills and abilities) from the lists provided. This will all be running from a real RPG system on my
side, but I'll be abstracting a lot of it for the forums. If this picks up, I'll consider running it a bit more in-depth on a Thursday as well.

Commitment: Not a lot. Once you've applied to join the Academy, you'll generally only be required to post once a day or so, to see the results of your previous day's labours and to let me know what you plan to do next. If you fail to declare any actions for a day, you're assumed to have spent it vegging out in front of the TV, or healing (if you're injured), and making no real progress towards your assignment.

If it sounds like you might be interested, let me know - more details will be supplied once I know if it's worth working through them.

I'm just working on that info now - because there's a real RPG system running behind this (CODA, if anyone cares) I'm having to do a fair bit of pregen-ing and abstraction for it to be suitable for the forum - particularly since I want the backwards-compatibility to be able to have people carry over their progress if this makes the leap to tabletop.
